5 hr Challenge - Re post

Here is a good exercise to give yourself just to have fun, let go, and test yourself to see what you can create.

Here is some pics from an exercise i did yesterday. I wanted to challenge myself to create a piece in 5 hrs and use it as an exercise, not rush a piece to get it done.

Here is my base, just newspaper on a pipe.

Started out with a demon face, but wasn't crazy about the character.

Changed him into more of a hellhound creature.

Refined.

Refined and added more forms.

Smoothed out the piece.

Procrastination has tried to Tempt me!

I'm Reworking my procrastination demon to match with the inner demons line I been sketching out.

Every time procrastination sneaks into our mind time is stolen from us. Grief and anxiety is put into the schedule for when you look back, and for what? To accomplish a meaningless task of doing nothing. We lie to ourselves and for some reason believe the lies without noticing the changes it makes on us. We can see it in the mirror but refuse to acknowledge it. The tempting nod and voice that says "check this out!" or "look over here" "come on you can do that tomorrow." why are we drawn to it? Why do we get sucked in?

This Is ME!

I am a Creative using my Vision and Gifts to Impact and Inspire others to be yourself and follow your dreams.

This is me and who i am!

I uploaded a video version here.

With a new year started I wanted to take a moment and re-introduce myself. This year has just been planned out so here I am going to lay out who I am, what I am about and how you can see me and my creations.

So I have got something special for you here. A look into the studio and a peak into the future. This year will be a year of Creation, a year of me sharing my sould and ppuring everything i can into you.

The Brands have been discovered and now they will begin to flourish and I think I have a little something for everyone. So please enjoy and let me know what you think.

I will be pouring everything i got into the Art of Creation. A new teaching and video series that will include video tutorials for purchase as well as free tips on YouTube. Really digging into characters and creating concepts, stories, and pushing that expression. I will also be sketching for some new sketchbooks to drop.

My Inner Demons has taken a step back to understand the feel and character and will now leap forward with a lot of new sketches created. I think the story and inspiration for those guys will be amazing and touch so many people on an emotional level and help them to overcome your own personal demons. These Demons will be released in a series early to mid year.

Monster Love pieces will continue, re creating the classics and bringing a new life to icons that haven't been seen. My own versions of the monsters i grew up to love. A new understanding and love for the love they share and my love for their characters. Monster Love will have a new piece coming to life every few months this year.

New artistic Mash Ups will be sketched every Monday and the ones that prosper will be completed. They are little wall plagues to collect and enjoy of your favorite characters splashed together.

Personal Expressions (Not 100% satisfied with name yet) will have some new pieces created but will be worked around the other pie es. These are all animals that express themselves and are meant to inspire you to be yourself.

Personal Angels (still deciding on a name) will be a new series i touch this year. Pieces that are touching and very emotional and will be the pieces to life you up and open your eyes. not necessarily the typical fluffy feathers but mostly the angels we see everyday. That special person that goes out of their way or touches your hear and brings our spirits up. These will be getting sketched and plan to release in a small series right after the Inner Demons.

Misunderstood Monsters will be something I start to play with this year as well. A series that focuses on the strength of my cute and creepy style that has made an impact on collectors. This is a series that I have been thinking about and planning for a long time just haven't found the right time and way to present it, but i feel I have a plan to start with. These will be the classic childhood fear monsters from a different point of view. Take the monster under the bed for example, maybe he isn't hiding under the bed waiting for you to step off and attack. Maybe he is just scared of the light, the dust and allergies give him red itchy eyes and sneezing which sounds like growls.

Now this is a schedule i am still fighting to keep and pushing myself to stick to, but here is what you can expect for this year.

Are you Overwhelmed with Sadness? - inner demons series

Sometimes it's not the tears that fall from our eyes that hurt, it's the ones inside that stain the soul. With our insides being consumed we see our inner flame flickering and ready to go out. We feel our bodies starting to fall apart, stitches start popping at the seams. Sections of us begin to sag and fall off. All while we put a big smile on our face for the world to see as the battle is fought inside.

You are not alone, You are surrounded by people that are rooting for you to become the best version of YOU! When times get tough remember to take care of yourself, keep feeding your flame with your passions. If your flame is strong you will be capable of igniting the world around you, if it blows out you may become the wind that blows out everyone else's flame.

Maybe There is something hiding behind his skin. A fun one for tonight, but the task with Myers is to create a blank emotionless face and make sure the Shape is correct. The terminator I worked in but removed his eye. I put it in but it removed the creepiness of "the blackest eyes, the devils eyes" of Myers.

What inspires You?

What Inspires YOU?

Tonight I have something special to share with you.

Everyone who knows me knows I have a soft spot for children and tonight I am sharing part of my inspiration and what juices my soul to create.

I saw a picture of a smiling little girl.
I read a story on the things she was going through.
Just a small glimpse into her life and how she was holding on.
I was inspired, i saw a fighter going through an experience that no one should have to endure and yet a genuine smile and giggle is on her face. It makes you look back upon your own life and how much we have to be grateful for,
I have been moved by her story and will continue to create

I am giving you permission!

Has anyone ever told you that? Have you every been granted the freedom to just create whatever you wanted to?

Take a moment for yourself. Close your eyes and just let your mind wander and roll to the ends of your imagination. No barriers, no stop signs or fences, nothing but endless free space just for you.

Now open your eyes. Remove the blind fold of what society expects to see from you. Open your eyes to the real world, one where you live your own life without the influence and judgement of others.

Let me be the first to welcome you. Even if there is no one else who believes or supports you or thinks you can do it. I want you to know that i am here, I believe everyone has the power and option to do whatever it is that fires up their heart.

Looking at this picture and reading about the meaning was amazing for me. My key take away was the idea of "I don't have to have everything figured out right now."

Why is it that this idea and concept makes so much sense, but yet i haven't thought about it. And here i am thinking in circles and struggling with trying to have my entire life figured out and in order right now.

Now as i look at this beautiful angel. A kind face and wide open arms, letting me know its ok. I am on a journey and there is still a long unknown path ahead of me.

Keep pushing forward and keep learning. Every day will be a new experience with new challenges. Just know that you have support as you push through and overcome them.

Have you ever wanted to learn how to save or reproduce your Sculptures?

Creation is something that has always been very fun and interesting to me. I love creating my own characters and creatures and being able to really bring them to life. But what happens after i make it? Where do i go from there?

I have created a new video to help you mold and cast your new piece of art that you have created. Now i do have a few time lapses and videos on my Youtube channel that show you the process but what i created here is very in depth. I go on to describe the entire process of making a silicone mold, doing a plaster jacket, then rotocasting in resin and backing with foam. I do this for 2 pieces so that i could share the differences for molding a wall plaque and for doing a character bust statue. A total of 5 videos that run approx 2 hrs 45 min

Highlighting using rebound 25 silicone, comparing that to mold star 20T, the brush on method, casting with smooth cast 325 as well as some tips along the way.

Creating Hope!

Have you ever looked into the eyes of a child? A child who takes on the challenge every morning to survive. To defeat the odds and live another day. That Sparkle you see is Hope!

Hope was created based on that feeling, that fighting drive and the purpose is to help those in need. So in that spirit i created this piece and will be donating 25% of the proceeds to acres of love, The ingane family forever home. A charity to build a home in africa for children with special need and need medical attention.

Inspiration from Finding neverland

I watched Finding Never-land the other day and was inspired by the idea and message.

What happens when you let your imagination run wild? True and free without a leash. You are no longer tied down by the rules of the real world, Your dreams are not contained in a box. You don't allow yourself to be held back by anything.

When we follow our passions and let our imaginations run wild we create our own fresh new path with mysterious wonders around every corner. Nothing but fresh clean air to fuel our travels. This is the path that was meant for us, an open Journey for us to discover. Unfortunately over the years fear and society has tried to pull the plug on this dream for most of us. They have injected the feeling of safety within a corporate position. The sense of norm you feel as one of the sheep in the herd. And then when we fall victim we get trapped, captured by society and the normal.

I don't want to be ordinary, I want to be extraordinary. I want to let my imagination run wild and be free.

The possibilities are endless and should not be contained or held back.

This is a bulls eye or a target right?

Do you you know how to win?

Of course we have learned the rules and know where we need to hit and we practice our aim over and over again until we hit it.

But what if it wasn't that simple? What if it was your turn but you were not sure what to do or where to throw. Would you ask for help?

This is something that most of us struggle with on a daily basis. In our lives and especially in the lives of creatives we are not really sure about what our targets are. We are trying to build something without truly finding our ground and thinking about the path to the finish and where we want to be a few years down the road. Whats even more amazing is that if we are playing a game we will ask for the instructions and help, but in life we feel we need to run alone.

Now i know we have to learn a lot on our own but there is no shame in learning and running with a pack, friends can help push us farther that we ever dreamed for ourselves. We go to teachers and mentors for learning techniques and specifics but most of us don't look for mentors to guide us in our lives.

Really think about what you want for yourself and where you would like to go. Then push for it.

A target is easier to hit when you know where your aiming!

Don't let the struggles get you down.

I am a human being. I have accepted that i will fall off or get down on myself for certain things. I have even been told that i am too hard on myself, but i guess i am just shooting for my very best. Anyway i have been overwhelmed the past couple months with some things that have been going on , both personal and with my brand. I'm trying to remember that we all need a little help sometimes to pick us back up.

I am not going to run life alone but in the company of those that pick me up and push me to be me.

So for everyone out there that is feeling down or going through a rough patch i want you to read this. Remember that you are not alone and at those times when we are in the rough of things is the moments before we spring into an amazing opportunity. Pick yourself up and let others in to support you.

"It is not the fall that defines us. It is how we rise after we have fallen."

What do your mornings look like?

Whats your favorite morning routine?

Do you have a special system that gets you going?

Share it below i would love to hear your thoughts and tips on what gets you going every morning.

For me it starts the night before. I do my best to have and accomplished night. If you go to bed satisfied then you will wake up determined to take on the new day. After i get up i have to my shower. The hot water gets my blood pumping and my brain wakes up. The steam ignites my ideas and they start spreading like crazy and by the time i get out i have a full head of notes to jot down.

On my Gym mornings i just get up and groomed and then just go. Putting on my headphones tunes ou t the world and i just start moving. About an hour of exercise gets the endorphin's cranking and i'm wide awake. Then my shower gets those ideas flowing and i'm ready to start my day.

Final thing after my shower or before the gym is my amino energy in juice or Gatorade or a fruit smoothie. I dont drink coffee or like the taste of it so this little concoction is my morning go to and it gets my alert and prepped and energized for a full new day.

A special plan and a good morning sets the pace for a very good day, unfortunately missing or forgetting a small aspect has potential to throw me off or give me that feeling of i'm forgetting something.

We all have our own systems that works for us. What works for you?

Stop Waiting! Just jump in and start!

Do you feel like your Tied up by your mind?

Are you waiting for that magical moment where everything goes right? Where the stars align and the pieces of the puzzle fall into place and just fit together perfectly?

Don't wait! Just jump in and do it. Go after that dream!

So what if everything isn't together or just right yet. So what if your not feeling like doing it now. You might think there's something going on or pulling you back but its mostly in your mind. We all have to learn to play hurt. Your never going to wake up and be in a perfect place and if you are waiting for it you could miss out on so many golden opportunities.

When you put yourself into action and you just start doing all of the ideas just start to rush you and a snowball effect occurs when you least expect it. The action opens up your mind and allows for amazing thoughts to be created.

Look at one of your favorite athletes, when they get a bruise or a sprain do they call out or not show up? Think about it.

Reimagine Conference Recap

I just had an amazing weekend of learning. A total drink off the fire hose and im still just trying to process it all. A weekend with friends and family sharing life and enjoying the experience.

Still trying to take it all in and trying to make sure the information i learned is put to use and not just staying locked in the back of my mind rotting. All the speakers were inspiring and uplifting. Open and honest about themselves and their own personal lives.

Inspiring images from Lisa Petz photography and Raw illusions studios

Every so often i come across work that just truly stands out and amazes me!

Some are from friends, some are from groups or pages i follow, and sometimes i just get lucky and see a random image that captures my attention.

Take a look at these following images! How do they make you feel? Can you feel the emotions in the characters? Can you feel a sense of who they are?

I Can!

Every time i look at these images i feel a sense of a story hidden behind the picture. Something about them feels like there is more to the images then what is in the foreground in plain sight. Something magical hidden behind the scenes. The stories that could be create with each one of them really inspires me and my imagination. Just staring at them a mystery forms in my mind as it try's to juggle together the pieces of the story. Take a look at all the subtle poses and angles that are captured.

Do you work for 8 hours?

Do you work for a full 8 hours or are you just filling up 8 hours?

Most creatives claim that they don't have enough time, but do they use the time they have wisely? Are they setting their own deadlines? Are they weeding out the unneccesary tasks of the day?

Most will answer NO. Think about a full 8 hour shift at your day job. Your filled up and busy the entire time. You think your slammed right? But then something happens and an emergency comes up and you are going to have to leave 2 hours early. You know this ahead of time so you plan for it and you don't rush but you try to get everything done. This is when something amazing happens and somehow everything you had planned for your 8 hour day get completed in 6 hours.

Ever have this happen before?

We tend to overthink things and all the thinking takes up so much time. We imagine our tasks will take much longer then they actually do and your days get filled with fluff. We end up thinking so much that the thoughts actually take longer than the action.

Take some time and track how long tasks really take you. Create deadlines for yourself so you have an endgame to work towards. Stop thinking about the task and just jump in! and remember this works for all areas of your life not just your work or your art.

I personally spent at least 5-10 minutes thinking about and planning when i was going to go online to fill out a tax form. I went on the site and wasn't sure where to go so i told myself i would check back later. Then i decided i needed to get it done, i went in thinking i will just figure it out and get it over with. The entire process of figuring it out and finding the page took maybe 3 minutes.

Your time is important, Use it wisely.

Waiting for some inspiration to strike?

Are you waiting for that spark of inspiration to strike?
Are you waiting for this magical dust to sprinkle over your life?
Are you waiting for the planets to align so that you can be surrounded by greatness?

It wont happen if you are just sitting around and just dreaming! Just thinking about it over and over again and trying to re analyze the idea and situation.

Don't wait for inspiration to come, seek it out and acquire it! Inspiration comes when you do, not when you think about it. Get energized and excited by doing and creating.

Get started and use that fuel to not only capture those amazing ideas, but to also execute on those amazing projects and bring them to completion.

My ideas come to me when i work. I keep my notepad handy as a net so nothing gets past and escapes me. Get excited by your creations and keep pushing forward, but most of all just Do!

I have been infested by Demons!!!

Have you ever had a demon infest your soul?

An inner monster that has clamped onto your heart and has even multiplied! Its own little spawns start running to every corner.

A creature you try to fight but some how it keeps coming back.

One of my biggest enemies over the years has been procrastination. This thing has pulled my productivity to a halt. Have you ever tried to deal with your own procrastination demon? They are tricky little beasts! I have captured my own, I put my focus on him and worried so much. I put myself in a state of hurting until i finally caught him. With my hands holding him down tight.

I thought I won!

Then as that evil little thing looked at me he looked directly into my eyes, he cracked an evil smile and even let out a little chuckle.

And that was when it hit me!

In my own pursuit of destroying my procrastination i focused so much on not procrastinating that i procrastinated and lost sight of my life.

Round 1 goes to Procrastination

This is but a learning experience on my timeline of life. Just a single battle in the war of life. I have learned that everyone has their own little variations and masked creatures and versions of procrastination, they are impossible to completely destroy!

This is a daily battle and will always be. Something we must learn to stand up to and hold our ground.

Keep Pushing and don't let him get the best of you. You have a full team of support, all you have to do is call on them!

How strong is your love for the monster?

In this world there are none of us that are truly perfect!

Each of us is our very own creature created and formed from our experiences. Different pieces are stitched on and glued as we grow and learn new things. This is also true when you find that special partner, that one you feel is your other half and make you whole. Nobody is perfect and if they somehow seem to be you should run. These beings are just burying their ticking time bombs deep within their soul, hoping that it doesn't explode. A leaking toxin that is slowly infecting their heart.

Real partners will love and embrace your scars. There can be wounds and deep cuts, even a few infected areas, but the bonds and stitches between you will hold strong. Keeping those areas stable and even working magic on those incompatible pieces. The stitches that hold you together should be stronger then all the troubles in the world.

Keep embracing and loving each others scars and evils. We all have an ugly side! Are you willing to accept it in each other? And are you able to let it out and shine without being judged and ridiculed?

Each of us has our own monster within!
Accept It! Embrace It! and love the monster in others!

Some inspiration, unfiltered and let go

It is OK to be human. I have been given a gift and this gift must be shared with the world. Are you going to be selfish and keep it to yourself? Or let the evil in to distract you from where you are suppose to be going? Are you willing to let this failure derail you from your true goals and passions?

Or are you going to use it as a spring board to catapult farther. Jump into the future with big beautiful wings that will carry me for generations. So strong and unfaltering that even the most powerful demons cannot touch me. A force so strong it creates thunder and shock-waves across the earth. An amazing event and movement that touches the hurts of this world. I will do better.

I will become the best person i can
I will not waste my god given talents
I will not be temped by demons
I will not be consumed by fear
I will hold my head up tall and stand my ground
I will become the person i was meant to
I will chase my dreams and i will keep fighting
I will become ME!
and i will NEVER allow myself to be someone else!

Each of you is an original that cannot be duplicated. Don't settle for anything less than that!
