5 hr challenge

Here is some pics from an exercise i did yesterday. I wanted to challenge myself to create a piece in 5 hrs and use it as an exercise, not rush a piece to get it done.

Here is my base, just newspaper on a pipe.

Started out with a demon face, but wasn't crazy about the character.

Changed him into more of a hellhound creature.

Refined.

Refined and added more forms.

Smoothed out the piece.

Here is the finished sculpture. Got the mold made and cast up my first resin piece. Blanks and painted versions will be available soon.

Here is a new 1/2 scale mini bust i have been working on.

Last year at mask-fest i purchased an amazing scarecrow creature mask from my friend and fellow art Pete Infelise at the devils workshop. Mr. Grimm is an original idea and it is still my favorite piece in my collection, so with that i talked to Pete at the last mask-fest about using the character and doing my own smaller scale bust. He was cool with me using his idea and here is what i have come up with so far, going for a Halloween themed creature and set.

Painting aliens part 2

blocked in the front of the face.

 Went in with burnt umber for shadows and veinwork

 Deepened the veins with blue.

 Mottled the front of the face to darken the tone.

 Added white to the front and back to add depth and detail.

 Darkened the red in the face.

 Eyes started base yellow
